My name is Eliyahu Behrouz Yossian, I was born in 1980 in Isfahan, Iran, a year after the Islamic Revolution, into a family of 7. My late father served as the branch manager of the Commercial Bank of Iran until his position was expropriated by the government because he was Jewish.
My childhood was during the turbulent years of the beginning of the Ayatollahs’ regime and the Iran-Iraq War. To this day, I remember the bombings by the Iraqi Air Force well. After 12 years of study in the Muslim schools in Iran, I continued my studies in civil engineering at the University of Kashan, which I left after three years to immigrate to Israel, alone, in 2003.
In Israel, I served for about 15 years in Unit 8200, I was ranked in the top 20% of the Intelligence Directorate, Outstanding Southern Region Commander, Outstanding Brigade Commander, Outstanding 8200 Commander, and even, together with my friends, in the Israel Security Award, which I was honored to represent on the stage of the President’s House. Throughout my service, I filled a variety of intelligence, operational, training, and command positions. I hold a master’s degree in Middle Eastern Studies for the Security Branches from Bar-Ilan University, and I am currently a lecturer, commentator, panelist, and researcher on Iran and the Middle East.
